COVID-19: A Message to Our Members
A Follow-Up to Our Members
In follow-up to our e-mail on Thursday March 12, 2020 re: COVID-19, as the situation remains fluid, we will adjust our business operations, policies, and procedures accordingly.
We have educated our employees on preventative practices such as frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer, social distancing, and staying at home when sick or self-quarantining after exposure to the virus. In an effort to reduce the spread of the virus, TEFCU’s employees have been advised not to shake hands, but will continue to greet you with a warm “hello” and smile. We encourage you to adopt similar practices and remain quarantined at home when experiencing flu-like symptoms.
For the health and safety of our employees, their families, TEFCU’s members, and the greater community, we urge you to utilize ATMs and online services for your banking needs before visiting our branches for financial servicing. We thank all members who continue to utilize ATMs and our online digital tools in lieu of visiting our branches. TEFCU’s digital tools and resources are available 24/7 and can execute most of your banking needs. For immediate assistance, we are available at (301) 289-9800 to handle all inquiries.
We also want to take this opportunity to warn you about potential scammers and fraudulent activity. Scammers are taking advantage of the fears surrounding COVID-19 by sending fraudulent e-mails, text messages, and social media posts in an attempt to steal personal information and money. As a reminder do not give out any personal information and be mindful of all links (hover over any links in emails by placing your mouse over the link; if and only if you are certain the link is legitimate, it is safe to click on the link – see below for an example). We thank you for your continued cooperation and loyalty! Let’s all do our part in protecting our families and communities against this virus.
A Message to Our Members
Thursday, March 12, 2020
Over the past few years TEFCU has enhanced our digital platform by providing access to many banking and lending services online. We encourage members to utilize TEFCU’s digital tools and resources for 24/7 account access and self-service banking. Our digital platform eliminates the need to visit a branch for most banking services such as:
- Apply for a loan and in most cases, fund the loan without visiting a branch;
- Mobile Check Deposits;
- Checking and Certificate Opening;
- Requests for Certified Checks;
- Increase Point of Sale (POS) limits (debit card);
- Overdraft Protection (ODP) Opt-In;
- Travel notifications; and
- Many more features and tools!
We are following all recommended preventative measures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health agencies as it relates to COVID-19 and reducing the spread of the virus by taking the following steps:
- All TEFCU Branches and offices are cleaned, sanitized, and disinfected multiple times every day. We are working with our cleaning support staff to increase the sanitizing and disinfecting process throughout the day. Electrostatic disinfectant treatment (known to kill coronavirus, influenza, and other viruses) will soon be utilized in our Branches as an additional precautionary measure.
- All TEFCU Branches are stocked with hand sanitizer and a hand washing station for members and employees.
If you or a loved one have been impacted by COVID-19 and need financial assistance, we are here to support. Please contact us regarding financial assistance that may be available to you.
As always the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, members, and community is TEFCU’s top priority. We thank you for being a loyal and valued member of TEFCU.
